The Mediterranean state of Malta, which is making rapid progress with corona vaccinations, wants to open up to tourists on a large scale again from June.

When it comes to marketing, the EU country wants to focus primarily on outdoor activities such as scuba diving and thus attract more holidaymakers to the country again *.

Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo announced on Tuesday a corresponding opening program that will cost the government 20 million euros.

Malta in the corona pandemic: easing planned from June

Malta's main airport is in operation, but only a few connections are currently offered.

Entrants must have a

negative corona test in

order to be allowed into the country.

Hotels, restaurants and classic tourist attractions are closed.

According to Bartolo, the entry restrictions for vaccinated flight and ship passengers are to be relaxed: They should

enter the country

from June

with appropriate proof, all others must continue to submit a negative test.
