In the new school year, the content of the Liberal Studies subject of senior high schools has been greatly changed and will be renamed "Civilization and Social Development". The new curriculum focuses on the three themes of Hong Kong, the country and the contemporary world. The overall curriculum content is cut by half, and the compulsory exams are maintained. There are only two levels of "achievement" and "non-compliance", but there is no school-based assessment (independent subject investigation), and students will be provided with the opportunity to study in the Mainland.

The Hong Kong Institute of Public Opinion today (April 1) released the survey results of the "We Hong Kong People Project" on the revision of the Liberal Studies curriculum, showing that more than 60% of the interviewees objected to the deletion of some livelihood and socio-political issues in the new subject ; As for the statement that "Liberal Studies has had problems since the first day," 45% of the respondents agreed, and 33% agreed.
