The Ministries of Tourism and Culture have set up a joint work program to preserve the civilizational and cultural identity and contribute to preserving the tangible and intangible heritage and promoting it locally and internationally, and to benefit from it in stimulating cultural tourism.

The program includes the cultural and tourism employment of a number of heritage and archaeological buildings and cells and the homes of celebrities and promoting them through workshops and short films to enhance the historical value as part of the local memory and the completion of plans for tourist routes in the archaeological sites.

The program also includes the implementation of visit paths within the archaeological castles and world heritage sites and the preparation of files for Syrian cities to be selected for candidacy for the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities in the fields of crafts, folk arts, design, film, cooking, literature, media arts and music, in addition to providing special facilities to spread the culture of reading and reading by allocating libraries in tourist sites. It is selected in coordination between the two ministries.

Assistant Minister of Tourism, Engineer Nidal Mashafj, explained in a statement to SANA's delegate that the program includes many joint projects in the fields of traditional crafts, folklore, design, historical monuments, activities and events, and the promotion of all the tourism and cultural elements that characterize Syria.

In his turn, Director of Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Culture, Ziad Maiman, explained the importance of updating the inventory lists of intangible heritage at the ministry and recording them in the National Heritage Register and promoting the cultural heritage that characterizes each governorate separately.

It is noteworthy that the duration of the implementation of the program is a year starting from the date of signature and automatically renewed, provided that the provisions of this program will be implemented by forming a joint technical committee that holds periodic meetings to evaluate cooperation and present practical suggestions regarding the means for its implementation and development.
