Despite the huge damage to the electrical system in Homs as a result of the terrorist attacks, the workshops and staff of the General Company for Electricity in Homs made redoubled efforts to overcome the difficulties and obstacles to rehabilitate the damaged areas and restore service to the people.

32 martyrs, 34 wounded, and 18 kidnapped workers and employees of the company gave their most valuable possessions to be a aid to the homeland during its ordeal and wrote immortal pages of sacrifice side by side with the men of the Syrian Arab Army.

SANA's correspondent met with the director of the General Electricity Company of Homs, Engineer Saleh Omran, during his review of the electrical network maintenance work in the old city, where he indicated that 80 percent of the damaged medium-voltage network had been rehabilitated during the years of war in the countryside and the city in addition to the implementation of new exits from the Al-Baath station and the maintenance of 100 Km of the low-voltage network, 377 transmission centers, and 3 main transmission stations, Al-Sha`ab and Palmyra, and the two villages serve large areas of the governorate.

Regarding the projects that the company is currently completing, between Omran, the Homs Electricity Company is currently working on the implementation of the Al-Baath exits project, which contributes to alleviating faults and problems of the electrical network in the city, in addition to the renewable energy projects that play an important role in supplying the electrical network, including a project under construction in the village of Al-Zafarana: A wind turbine with a capacity of two and a half megawatts, and the five-megawatt solar panel project in the Al-Mukhram area, which is currently underway.

The electrical system was exposed during the war years to losses estimated at 142 billion Syrian pounds, including many of the company's machinery and headquarters in the countryside and in the city.
