"Every party wants to show control and power. The street is mainly afraid of changing the status quo in the election campaign. The Palestinian security forces are not intervening.

At this stage, the officers claim, there is clear tension in the area that threatens security stability and may lead to increased riots against IDF soldiers and Israeli localities. Officers in the Judea and Samaria Division added that they have raised the level of vigilance for changes in the area "The IDF has zero tolerance for violence and certainly for terrorism of all kinds," they clarified.

"Wherever the Palestinian Authority does not deal with it, they will find the IDF.

The arrests and investigations continue regardless of the Palestinian Authority elections. "

At the same time, at midnight, the phase of registering the lists for the Palestinian Authority's Legislative Council, which is scheduled to take place in May, ended.

Experts estimate that Fatah is divided and weakening in the wake of PA decision by Abu Mazen, Marwan Barghouti and Muhammad Dahlan to run on three separate lists. Hamas, however, has submitted an orderly unified list.

Hamas is very concerned about Abu Mazen's last-minute decision to cancel the election. The split in Fatah serves Hamas' interest and increases its chances of expanding its presence in the Legislative Council.

Defense sources say that Abu Mazen's decision to cancel the election at the last minute due to the Corona or Israeli involvement could lead to a wave of terrorism throughout Judea. Israel has not yet responded on the issue of whether to approve votes for the Palestinian Authority in East Jerusalem.
