The suspect attacked due to a personal dispute with the victims.
According to the authorities, the alleged murderer, who was identified as: Aminadab Gaxiola González, 44, and the victims had "business and personal relationships."
Among the four who died is a nine-year-old boy, who died in his mother's arms, according to police.
The alleged murderer closed the doors of the building where the deadly attack occurred with cable locks used for bicycles.
They added that the man, in addition to being a gunman, had pepper spray and handcuffs.

Gaxiola and a woman were injured.
They were taken to a local hospital, Lt. Jennifer Amat said.
Both were in critical condition Wednesday night.

Police
responded to reports of shooting on West Lincoln Avenue
around 5:30 pm local time.
When officers arrived, the scene was still active.
"Officers arrived while shooting was taking place and located several victims at the scene, including fatalities," local police wrote on the social network Facebook.
Authorities recovered a firearm at the scene.

Authorities said officers were involved in the shooting.
But they warned that
"there is no longer a threat to the public

The four people who did not survive were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not yet indicated a motive for the shooting.
There
are a dozen businesses in
the building where the shooting occurred
, including an insurance office, marriage therapist, speech and language therapist, a phone repair business, and several property management companies.

California Governor Gavin Newsom called the events
"horrible and heartbreaking"
and said in a statement that "our hearts go out to the families affected by this terrible tragedy tonight."
"I am deeply saddened by reports of a mass shooting in Orange County, and I continue to think about the victims and their loved ones as we learn more. My team and I will continue to monitor the situation closely," said Rep. Katie Porter in response to the shooting.

Amat said that in the city of Orange, located southeast of Los Angeles,

And last week, eight people, mostly Asian women, died after being shot by a suspect at three massage centers in the Atlanta, Georgia, area.
