Vienna - TV Austria and the ORF mourn a true legend: Peter Fichna is dead. The news anchor and presenter died at the age of 90.
The sad news is only known after a delay.
The ORF announced in a press release on Tuesday (March 30th) that Fichna had already died on Friday, March 19th.

Born in Zwettler, whose trademark was not only his concise voice according to the ORF, presented “Zeit im Bild” from 1963 to 1975.
It is "the most important news program of the ORF", as the broadcaster writes on its homepage.
This is not only known to every Austrian, but also to many Germans - where the ORF broadcasters have traditionally been part of TV habits.
For the radio, Fichna made countless contributions before, after and during his television career.
Fichna moderated opera broadcasts and the telephone request concert on “Radio Niederösterreich”.
He also passed on his knowledge of language and dramaturgy as a teacher.
In the noughties, Peter Fichna celebrated a TV comeback with the program “Vom Usage der Dinge”, in which he read technical instructions for use, the poor German translation of which resulted in nonsensical and funny word creations.
