Since the origins of the investigation in the middle of last year, everything related to the Russian vaccine Sputnik V against the coronavirus has made the whole world speak.

It was mainly the delay in the publication in a scientific journal that in January earned Sputnik V a wave of criticism, which was later turned off once the evidence was in full view of the world when it was confirmed that the inoculation worked.

Finally, the publication in The Lancet cleared up doubts, to the point that today the development of the state that governs with the iron hand Vladimir Putin is one of the most reliable applications.

So much so that two weeks ago Russian authorities publicly stated that the vaccine

guarantees two years of immunity

and that it is equally effective for all age groups.

"The duration of the immunological effects of this vaccine will be very long. We hope it will be two years or more," said Alexander Gintsburg, director of

the Gamaleya Institute

, the entity behind the development of the Russian product.

But now the surprise came from another side.

From its

official Twitter account

, this Friday the vaccine reported that it will take to Russia those who follow the account, hinting that there will soon be a raffle of tickets for the winners to travel to receive the inoculation.

"Tell your friends to follow Sputnik V on Twitter!

Our social media followers

will be the first to be invited to #SputnikVaccinated in Russia when the show starts," the tweet reads.

The vaccination program you mention starts in July.

In another tweet they clarify: "

The mission of Sputnik V is to save lives

and restore normalcy to everyone around the world. It is of the utmost importance to us. To be clear, this was not an April Fool's Day joke. We are working to start this program in July, "says the official account of the vaccine.

In Europe there is still controversy with Sputnik V. While the vaccine began to be examined last week by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), Russia on Tuesday rejected the words of a person in charge of that organ, who

"advised against"

the EU countries authorize it as an emergency.

"It's a bit like Russian roulette

,

"

said the chairwoman of the EMA board of directors, Christa Wirthumer-Hoche, noting that data on vaccinated people is insufficient.

Sputnik V vaccines are already being used in more than 50 countries around the world.

"We request a public apology,"

the state research center Gamaleya and the Russian Sovereign Fund (RDIF) requested on Twitter.

Impatient,

several EU countries have already turned to Sputnik V

, such as Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Even the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce announced days ago that the vaccine will be produced in Italy, an unprecedented event in the European Union.

"Ten million doses will be produced between July 1, 2021 and January 1, 2022,"

Stefano Maggi

, press attaché to the president of the Chamber of Commerce

, told AFP

news

agency

.
