More than 3,000 displaced by fighting in Venezuela 2:06
(CNN Spanish) -
Two Colombian journalists and two members of a Venezuelan non-governmental organization were detained in the Apure state of Venezuela, on the border with Colombia, the NGO and the media said on Wednesday.
The director of the Venezuelan NGO Fundaredes, Javier Tarazona, denounced this Wednesday the detention of four people in the state of Apure, on the border with Colombia, whom he says were "carrying out documentation work" on an investigation amid the conflict between the Force Bolivarian National Army and the irregular groups that operate in the sector.
Tarazona identified the detainees as Fundaredes activists Juan Carlos Salazar and Diógenes Tirado, and journalists Luis Gonzalo Pérez and Rafael Hernández, correspondents for the Colombian media NTN24.
The information was published by the news chain in a message on Twitter in which they specified that they were in the custody of the Bolivarian National Guard.
"They were detained by members of the National Guard to verify the content they had on their phones and audiovisual equipment," Tarazona said.
They were able to reach them at 4:30 pm Wednesday and I haven't heard from them since, Tarazona added.
"We consider that we are at the forefront of a disappearance and we call on international organizations to be alert to this situation that worries us," added the director of Fundaredes, an NGO dedicated to the promotion, defense and investigation of human rights violations. .
