Customs arrested a man in Soissons (Aisne) on Wednesday who was carrying 50 kilos of heroin, the largest seizure made public in a year, we learned from a judicial source on Friday.

Of French nationality and already known to the police, the man has been in custody since Thursday, said the Soissons prosecutor's office, confirming information from the regional daily Aisne nouvelle.
The arrest took place in Soissons after a pursuit of about thirty kilometers.
The man arrested is suspected of having transported the drugs from the Benelux.
The investigation, in the hands of the Lille JIRS since Thursday, was entrusted to the judicial police. The quantity seized is the largest made public in a year, according to an AFP count.
