You have to know how to help yourself: a truck driver in Ismaning propped up his truck with an excavator arm when the earth gave way in an excavation pit.

Ismaning

- On Maundy Thursday, shortly after 6 p.m. on a construction site in Ismaning, a truck got into a lopsided position on an embankment.

The driver of the truck, which was fully loaded with gravel, was just about to unload the load with his excavator arm when the embankment suddenly gave way.

The driver with the presence of mind supported his vehicle with the excavator arm on the bottom of the pit and then called the Ismaning Volunteer Fire Brigade for help.

The emergency services secured the truck against further slipping with the cable winch of the rescue vehicle.

In order to get the vehicle free again, it had to be lifted.

Since no crane company could be reached, the integrated control center in Munich was contacted.

This alerted the required crane truck, the accompanying support vehicle and the operations management service, reports the professional fire brigade.

The crane was used to lift the truck at the snow plow bracket so that the driver could first relieve the "support arm" and then drive away to the rear.
