Fischbachau - The fire in a wood chip heating system on Maundy Thursday called the Fischbachau, Elbach, Hundham and Miesbach fire brigades, as well as the Fischbachau rescue station, on the scene.
On Maundy Thursday lunchtime, a wood chip heating system caught fire in the Buchberg district of Fischbachau.
As the police announced, the 67-year-old landowner alerted the fire brigade when he noticed smoke from his woodchip bunker.
The smoldering fire, which was still in the early stages, was quickly extinguished by the fire brigade using breathing apparatus.
The cause of the fire was a defect in the screw conveyor from the bunker to the combustion chamber, which enabled the flames and embers to spread into the woodchip bunker.
The property damage was minor due to the quick action of the owner.
Only the wood chips in the bunker (approx. 12 m3 of material) worth approx. 300 euros had to be disposed of due to the fire and the subsequent extinguishing work.
Neither the facility nor the residential building above was damaged.
The fire brigades Fischbachau, Elbach, Hundham and Miesbach, as well as the rescue station Fischbachau were deployed.
