Unlocking the Suez Canal had an ally in heaven 0:30

(CNN Spanish) -

There was no way to move that gigantic ship 400 meters long, 60 wide with a transport capacity of no less than 20 thousand containers.

That ship of more than 200 thousand tons was stranded between the two sides of a channel just over 200 meters wide.

Channel through which almost a third of the world container trade passes.

But a force from heaven succeeded.

This is José Levy speaking from Jerusalem.

It has been the last week in which a "heavenly" force, whether we really want to or not "came from heaven," this "heavenly force" allowed the reopening of a key route for global trade.

But don't be scared.

I explain.

It turns out that due to strong winds and sand storms, a huge container ship, one of the largest on the planet, the Ever Given, which like so many others is of the Panamanian flag, blocked navigation in the strategic Suez Canal for six days.

Hundreds of ships found themselves in the middle of one of the most striking traffic jams in history.

Supplies of raw materials, vehicles, furniture, electrical products, mailings, were affected in trade between East and West.

Supertankers were unable to reach their destinations unless they took a long detour to the African continent.

There were fears of a week-long shutdown that would affect a global economy that once again showed its enormous fragility.

Egypt asked the world for help.

Ships of all kinds were sent to the area.

On the one hand, powerful tugs tried to push the container ship from different directions.

On the other hand, ships dredged huge amounts of submerged sand off the canal's shores.

In the end, as I said before, the factor considered key came "from heaven."
