The Independent Citizens (UB) want to thwart the gravel extraction plans on the Muna site with a cross-factional application for groundwater protection.

Otto Bußjäger announced a corresponding move by his parliamentary group in the local council.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn - According to the application, the municipal council is to instruct the town hall administration to "expand the area east of Hohenbrunner Straße to Friedrich-Bergius-Straße in the ongoing process of the regional planning association for the designation of water priority areas, in order to protect the groundwater flow to the north from harmful influences to protect in the long term ".

Bußjäger hopes that all parliamentary groups will support the motion and that the administration will examine the advantages and disadvantages of expanding the water priority areas by the next meeting.

He hopes that the motion will be an effective way of "stopping gravel mining at this point".

The municipal council did not make any resolutions to remove gravel.

It was neither decided to conclude an urban development contract with the contractor who wants to mine gravel, nor to initiate a procedure to designate concentration areas for gravel extraction.

Because the entrepreneur submitted an amended application for gravel mining a few days ago, the municipality has two months to re-examine the application.

In response to a request from Dorothee Stoewahse (Greens), Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD) announced that, according to the district office, the entrepreneur does not have to remove the flutter belts that are supposed to drive away ground-nesting birds from the planned gravel extraction area.

"I am disappointed with the reaction of the district office," said Roland Spingler (CSU).

In his opinion, the authority should have decided in favor of nature conservation, as it is to be expected that the birds will be able to breed undisturbed until a decision is made.

As reported, the gravel quarrying plans are met with heavy criticism from parts of the population.

The residents in the Hohenbrunn industrial park would be particularly affected by the gravel pit.

The Luibl couple fear that the gravel trucks will drive past their garden.

Meanwhile, the entrepreneur is trying to allay the citizens' fear of the project.
