The Housing Association stated that, taking into account residents’ opinions and the current economic environment, it provides a 4-year transitional rent reduction arrangement for residents who are relocated to the first phase (reconstruction) of new units. From the effective date of the new lease, residents will enjoy 40% of the rent is reduced, and the reduction will be reduced by 10% year-on-year, that is, the full rent will be paid in the fifth year.

Minghua Building was built in the 1960s and has 13 buildings.
The Housing Society launched the Ming Wah Building redevelopment plan in 2011. The project was carried out in three phases, and the affected residents were resettled based on the principle of "relocation in the original village".
In the first phase of the redevelopment, 3 blocks (K, L, M) will be demolished to construct two new buildings, providing 966 rental units; in the second phase of the reconstruction, 5 blocks (F, G, H, I, J) will be demolished. ), involving more than 700 households, they can choose to relocate to new units in Phase 1 (reconstruction); or renovated units in Blocks A, B, C, D, and E of Ming Wah Building (Old Village); or other leases under the Housing Association Housing estate.
After the residents affected by the second phase of redevelopment have completed their relocation, the second phase of demolition works is expected to start next year to build 3 new rental housing estates, which will be sufficient to "replace the original villages" of the remaining affected residents. It is estimated that the project will require about 6 Years to complete.
The third phase of the redevelopment project will demolish 5 blocks A, B, C, D, and E for the construction of subsidized-sale housing and "elderly living and happy" units.
After the entire redevelopment project is completed, Ming Wah Building will provide a total of 3,919 units, including 2,561 rental units, 750 subsidized sale units, and 608 "Elderly Living" units, which is 750 more than the original 3,169 units.
