After the state capital hung so close to the critical 100 mark for so long, it is now over.

Munich also cracks the 100 on Good Friday for the 7-day incidence with a value of 104.3 according to the RKI.

Because the whole emergency brake rule was a bit confusing during the Easter holidays, the city clarified yesterday: If the 100 mark is broken again on Good Friday, Munich will go into the new lockdown from Easter Sunday.

All previous relaxations will be invalid from Easter Sunday and the controversial curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. will even apply again.

"The situation is more serious than many believe," said Markus Söder on Wednesday via Twitter.

“We now need a uniform spirit in all 16 federal states.

With incidences over 100, the emergency brake must be implemented consistently without further hesitation.

We have to fight Corona consistently, ”he continued.

The CSU boss made it clear what should happen in the event of a high corona incidence: The emergency brake and stricter rules should come into force.

This could also happen in Munich from Easter Sunday.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the state capital already exceeded the limit of 100. If Munich is above this for the third day in a row (Good Friday), there is a risk of consequences (see first report).

Then the emergency brake agreed by the federal and state governments could apply.

Stricter measures would then return on Easter Sunday * - including the night curfew.

This applies between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Further measures that the emergency brake provides are the following:

  • Meeting:

    Staying together in public and private spaces is only permitted with members of your own household and one other person.

    There is one exception: two families with children under the age of 14 are allowed to help each other with childcare.

  • Business:

    Click & Meet is over.

    Only Click & Collect would be allowed.

    Exceptions: groceries, delivery services, beverage stores, health food stores, baby stores, pharmacies, drug stores, opticians, hearing aid acousticians, petrol stations, car and bicycle workshops, banks, post offices, dry cleaners, laundromats, flower shops, garden centers, hardware stores, insurance offices, bookstores, hairdressers, cosmetic companies.

  • Museums, exhibitions, memorials, zoo and botanical garden

    : they would probably have to close again.

  • Day care centers:

    Depending on the daily value, the authorities announce on Friday whether day care centers are open for the following week.

  • Schools:

    Whether and how they will reopen after the Easter break will be decided on April 9th.

    If the incidence remains above 100, all pupils are in distance learning, with the exception of final grades, Q11 at high school, 11th grade FOS and 4th grade in primary schools and support centers.

    Here, however, only students who tested negative are allowed to take part in face-to-face classes.

Corona in Bavaria: Söder-Minister gives indirect rejection - Munich will not become a "model municipality"

Relaxation for Munich was only in prospect for a short time: Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD *) had campaigned for the state capital to become a “model municipality”.

With a current and negative Corona test *, participants can benefit from openings in outdoor restaurants, shops and culture.

On Tuesday, however, it became clear that Munich would not be a “model municipality”.

Bavaria's Minister of Health, Klaus Holetschek, gave an indirect rejection.

The CSU * politician made it clear that only cities with less than 100,000 inhabitants come into question - the end for Munich.

The vaccination is only effective at low incidences, ”he emphasized.
