Ten people were indicted in Rennes for drug trafficking in an organized gang, the Rennes prosecutor announced on Friday.

The accused, aged 21 to 57 years and of Albanian origin, were indicted for "
importation and trafficking of narcotics in an organized gang, criminal association and laundering of these offenses
", some in recidivism, indicates the prosecutor in a press release.
Six of them, including the head of the network already sentenced to six years in prison for similar facts, were remanded in custody.
The other four are under judicial control.
At the origin of this case, a report which arose in September 2018 concerning "
the suspicious actions of an individual of Albanian nationality, aged 45, with a criminal record
", specifies the prosecution.
The first elements of the investigation confirmed “
the existence of an organized drug trafficking network orchestrated by Albanian nationals established in the national territory, in connection with local networks
”.
A judicial investigation was opened on September 30, 2019.
A clan mode, difficult to infiltrate
This network operates "
on a clan mode, particularly difficult to infiltrate
", and regularly supplied itself with narcotics, mainly heroin, in the Netherlands, by means of road links at a rate of ten kilograms per trip, according to the parquet.
The suspects also used dedicated phones and vehicles and had set up a circuit to launder funds from the resale of narcotics.
Seventeen people had been placed in police custody following operations organized on March 29 and 30 in Ille-et-Vilaine and in the Alpes-Maritimes.
Narcotics were found during searches, including 2.5 kilos of heroin, 60 kilos of cutting products, more than 50,000 euros in cash as well as four handguns with their ammunition.
