Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced today that the appearance of US forces in Ukraine will increase tension and push Russia to take additional measures to ensure its security.
Russia Today quoted Peskov as saying, commenting on the statements of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense about the possibility of American soldiers appearing in Ukraine: This scenario is unacceptable and inappropriate and will lead to an increase in tensions near the Russian border, and this will require additional measures on the part of Russia to ensure its security, stressing that his country does not threaten anyone. .
The US State Department had earlier accused Russia of carrying out "destabilization" actions in Ukraine, while the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said that Washington had promised to provide support to Kiev in the event that the situation in the Donbas region worsened, according to its claim.
Earlier today, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko stressed that talk of a military confrontation between his country and Ukraine is "pure fiction."
