In Creil, the tension does not come down.
For the third night in a row, and despite the CRS reinforcements deployed, the police were targeted by mortar fire Thursday evening, in the Plateau district.
“It didn't last as long as the day before, but it was still hot,” said a policeman.
Before the lights of the fireworks illuminate the night in Creil, the police discovered, around 9 p.m., at the rue Henri-Dunant, about twenty Molotov cocktails.
But it was around 10 p.m. that hostilities really began.
A slightly injured policeman
As on the previous nights, around thirty individuals targeted the police with mortars and other projectiles.
"There were even residents who targeted us from the floors of certain buildings," blows an official, who saw one of his colleagues being slightly injured in the shoulder after receiving a glass bottle.
After about thirty minutes of confrontation, the police managed to disperse the troublemakers and the neighborhood regained its calm.
This time, however, officials arrested a person in possession of a mortar.
He was taken into custody.
“He explained that two young people had given it to him but that he absolutely did not intend to use it against us.
He is a victim in a way, ”quipped a police officer.
Aged 17 and in the absence of a criminal record, the young man received a reminder of the law.
Meetings between young people and elected officials to try to calm things down
This Friday at the end of the day, the CRS reinforcements were still deployed in Creil.
"We will not let go," comments Eric Heip, departmental director of public security.
Also a meeting took place this Friday afternoon between young people from Hauts de Creil and deputies to the mayor to try to calm the situation.
"Mediators have also come into contact since the beginning of the incidents with those who had organized the barbecue," said the mayor, Jean-Claude Villemain.
