The spread of the fastest and most severe changes occurred in the Covid virus 19 in the recent period, and the confirmed infections rose to more than 3,300 infections last March, to be the highest monthly outcome since the virus entered Syria in March 2020.

According to the data of the Ministry of Health, the number of officially registered cases of the Coronavirus for the month of March reached 3321, the highest of which was recorded in Damascus 1240, followed by Damascus countryside with 460 cases, Lattakia 459 cases, Tartous 388 cases, Aleppo 239 cases, Homs 216 cases, As-Suwayda 96 cases, Quneitra 86 cases, Daraa 61 cases and Hama 38 In Deir Ezzor, 30 were injured, and in Hasaka, 8 were wounded

Dr. Dameiriya confirmed that the hospitals were and are still in a state of constant alert and alert to receive all confirmed and suspected cases of infection with the virus in terms of the readiness of the assigned medical personnel or the availability of the necessary medicines and oxygen with the allocation of new hospitals to receive cases of Corona.

Dameiriya revealed that a number of cases infected with the virus and in need of intensive care were transferred from Damascus to Homs last month due to the 100% occupancy of the intensive care beds for Corona patients, calling for the necessity of adhering to health instructions, maintaining spatial distancing, wearing a mask, and reviewing the hospital immediately after feeling symptoms of the disease.

Last March, 239 deaths recorded about one-fifth of the total deaths since the start of the pandemic in Syria, and the largest toll was in Damascus also with 89 deaths, followed by Lattakia 45 deaths, Tartous 31 deaths, Aleppo 25 deaths, Homs 22 deaths, and As-Suwayda 13 deaths, and in each of the governorates of Damascus countryside and Deir Ezzor 5 deaths And all of Quneitra, Daraa and Fitan.

The Director of Communicable and Chronic Diseases at the Ministry, Dr. Jamal Khamis, said in a similar statement that the increase in the number of infections and the horizontal spread of the virus contributed to the increase in the number of deaths, especially among the elderly and those suffering from respiratory problems, heart disease and diabetes.

Dr. Khamis stressed the need for people with chronic diseases to adhere to their homes and not leave them except for necessity, and not to stop their medications without consulting a specialist, eat healthy food, engage in appropriate physical activity, and not have contact with people who show symptoms of infection with the virus.

Dr. Khamis warned against the disregard for preventive measures that lead to more injuries and deaths, calling for a commitment to using the muzzle, spatial separation and continuous sterilization.
