Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte announced today the extension of strict general isolation in the capital Manila and neighboring provinces for a period of no less than a week in an attempt to contain a new jump in Coronavirus infections.
"The restrictions include a ban on unnecessary movement, gatherings and eating meals in restaurants," said Harry Rock, a spokesman for the Philippine president, in a statement.
Today, the Philippines recorded 12,576 new infections with the Coronavirus, bringing the total number to 784043, while the total deaths reached 13,423, after recording 103 new deaths, which places more burdens on the health care system in the country.
