The Shing Mun Tunnel is a busy traffic hotspot in Hong Kong, and many people transfer to another bus to their destination at the interchange station.

In addition, in the past, passengers only needed to make up for the long-distance minus the short-distance fare in Sha Tin when they transferred at the city tunnel interchange station. However, the "Ma On Shan Traffic Concern Group" found that after the increase in fares, some of the bus routes that transit through the Shing Mun Tunnel interchange station, After the fare increase, the fare for transfer passengers is always more expensive than that for direct passengers, with an increase of about 1 cent.

For example, citizens who take the 46X and transfer 40X or 43X to Ma On Shan in the city tunnel will pay only 9.1 yuan for the whole journey before the fare increase, and 9.7 yuan for the whole journey after the fare increase, which is 1 cent more expensive than the 9.6 yuan that takes the 40X directly to and from Niaoxisha and Kwai Chung.

The situation also appeared in many city tunnel bus routes.

New Lantao buses have also been approved for fare increases, which will also take effect on April 4.
