They discovered a new region of the Milky Way, and a group of Spanish scientists achieved it with the use of the Gaia telescope of the European Space Agency. Coordinate data received from space is captured on a star map of the Milky Way, the most accurate record ever made. In it, you can see three of the great spiral arms of the stars that make up the galaxy: Orion, where the solar system is; that of Perseus, located at the outer edge of the Galaxy, and that of Sagittarius, towards the heart of the Milky Way. During their investigation, the CAB group of scientists, led by Michelangelo Pantaleoni González and Jesús Maíz Apellániz, discovered a hidden structure that they named the Cepheus spur. Michelangelo Pantaleoni González spoke with Guillermo Arduino at this CNN Digital Encounter.
