In five to eight years the overpass of the railway over the Ammerseestrasse is to be renewed.
On the decision of the transport committee, the administration will sound out whether an additional bridge is possible for cyclists and pedestrians.

- By bike or on foot from Königswiesen over a new pedestrian bridge over the busy Ammerseestrasse towards Gauting station: In the course of the planned new construction of the railway underpass from 2026 on Gautinger Ammerseestrasse, this would be an option.
The Green Group has therefore already requested the examination - with success.
The Environment, Energy and Transport Committee decided unanimously that the administration should have the new crossing checked by the State Building Authority in Weilheim, including the schedule and funding opportunities.
The building committee of the previous municipal council had already dealt with the so-called Ammersee underpass.
In the new construction from 2024, as it was called by the state building authority at the time, the narrow streets are to be widened to create space for "two-sided wheel protection strips and a 2.50 wide sidewalk".
This was also the committee decision at the end of 2018. The municipality concluded a corresponding planning agreement with DB Netz AG and the State Building Authority at the end of 2019, according to the draft.
Should Gauting demand a second one for pedestrians and cyclists in the course of the construction of the new railway bridge, "we will bear the construction load and maintenance," warned Mayor Dr.
Brigitte Kössinger at the meeting.
When the planning approval procedure involved a parallel-built pedestrian bridge at the railway underpass in the Königswiesen district, the construction alone would have cost the community half a million euros - “plus maintenance,” recalled Kössinger.
With a cross-free second pedestrian / cyclist bridge "we are closing the gap in the everyday cycle network", explained Dr.
Matthias Ilg (Greens) - and you connect the future settlement to the former AOA area in the direction of the train station.
He estimates the costs to be lower, the acquisition of land is not a problem - especially since the federal government's new special program “City and Country” has been providing funding for “nationwide bicycle infrastructure” since 2021.
However, the railway had already rejected an additional pedestrian bridge at the Königswiesen railway underpass "for safety reasons", warned Kössinger.
The Ammersee underpass will not be renewed until 2026 to 2030 at the earliest.
Before that, the town hall administration should first clarify the cost issue with the authorities, insisted Dr.
Ilg on the Greens application.
He received support from Stephan Ebner (CSU): "Our parliamentary group basically supports the test." The committee therefore unanimously instructed the town hall administration to take a closer look at the matter.
"Maybe the Deutsche Bahn has become more bicycle-friendly," said the mayor.
There was no statement from Deutsche Bahn yesterday, the state building authority Weilheim wants to comment today.
