The largest airline in Israel is preparing to operate direct flights to Phuket, Thailand, the only destination where it will be possible to land and spend an entire week without the need for isolation.
Immediately after the week that the Israelis will spend in Phuket, they will be able to continue to all of Thailand.
This is the first time that direct flights are operated between Israel and Phuket and El Al is the first company to take up the gauntlet and is expected to make these flights.
The flights will be operated on the company's Dreamliner aircraft.
The flight will last about 10 hours, and if the company receives permission to fly over Saudi Arabia, the flight is expected to be shortened by about two and a half hours and will last about seven and a half hours.
El Al and other Israeli airlines have already operated direct flights to Dubai via Saudi Arabia, but it is currently unclear whether the permit will also be granted for flights to Thailand.
As you may recall, Phuket was opened to the vaccinated as early as April 1, but entry to the destination by July requires isolation on the island.
From July as mentioned, anyone who enters Phuket, will be able to spend free time in it for a week and then continue to all areas in Thailand.
So far, El Al has operated direct flights only to Bangkok, and from there many Israelis have continued to threaten through local airlines.
El Al's decision to fly to Thailand comes a few hours after the announcement that the company will also operate direct flights to Georgia, as early as next Sunday - April 11.
Thailand is the first country in Asia to open its gates to vaccinated tourists.
The tourism industry in the country constitutes a significant portion of its revenues and before the Corona period, hundreds of thousands of Israelis visited the country every year.
