The field of green energy storage is gaining momentum in Israel and around the world.

After it was announced last week that the European Union will finance an energy storage plant in Dimona, yesterday the Supergas company announced its entry into the storage field.

Supergas Energy, which is controlled by the Elco Group, entered into a memorandum of understanding with Impact Projects to promote the construction of independent network-based electricity storage facilities (Stand Alone Storage) in Israel.

According to the announcement, the parties will work to find suitable areas for the purpose of initiating and establishing storage facilities that are expected to help absorb excess electricity from the national transmission system and address critical load times.

Kfir Navon, CEO of Supergas Energy, stated that "Supergas' entry into the field of energy storage is in line with the company's long-term strategy of becoming a significant player in the energy economy in Israel.

The company will be active in the coming years as a leading entrepreneur in a wide range of core areas in the local market.

The field of energy storage is expected to grow in the coming years, and Supergas will be a significant player in it. "

Impact Projects stated that "Energy storage activity is a natural and synergistic continuation of electricity generation in natural gas promoted by Reindeer Energy, and there is no doubt that combining the initiative experience of Impact Projects owners, together with Supergas' professional knowledge, experience and leadership in the energy sector, will accelerate development. Of the field of energy storage in favor of a more advanced and efficient electricity economy. "

Meanwhile, Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz recently inaugurated the first electricity storage system in Israel, at Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak in the Gaza Strip.

The system, established by Nofar Energy under the leadership of Ofer Yanai, operates on technology similar to the technology of Tesla vehicle batteries.

The system makes it possible to set up electricity projects that provide up to 172 megawatts to places where the electricity grid does not reach or reaches the maximum it can provide.
