Three people were shot and wounded on Monday evening (April 5) in a rural area of Bangladesh during a protest against the now violent Covid-19 restrictions, a doctor and police reported.

The clashes took place in the central town of Saltha in the Faridpur region, where police reportedly reported that a man was injured in a market during a check to enforce anti-violence measures. 'epidemic.
Thousands of angry villagers then took to the streets.
Some threw bricks at a police station and vandalized government buildings, set a policeman's house on fire and burned two cars belonging to government officials, police said.
"The police opened fire to defend themselves at the time of the attack on the police station,"
a spokesperson for the Faridpur district law enforcement told AFP.
A second police officer, Inspector Nur-a-Alam Fakir, confirmed the incident.

Police did not give a report, but a doctor from the emergency department at Faridpur University Hospital, Abdul Matin, said three people were in critical condition after suffering gunshot wounds.
"One of them was injured in the buttocks, another in the thorax and a third person in both legs,"
he told AFP.
Bangladesh began a seven-day lockdown on Monday to combat an outbreak of the virus, with all domestic travel suspended and stores closed.
