The opening ceremony of the 24th Knesset will take place today (Tuesday) when the question will be raised in the air how long it will last in light of the fact that the previous three Knessets (21, 22 and 23) have survived together for less than two years.

120 Knesset members, including 17 new and excited, will arrive at the Mishkan to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

At exactly 16:00 in the afternoon, Knesset Secretary Yardena Meller-Horowitz will announce: "Honorable President."

The invited crowd will rise to their feet, and three trumpet cheers will be heard.

President Reuven Rivlin will open the yeshiva, invite Knesset Speaker Levin to declare allegiance and hand over the management of the yeshiva to him.

Levin will read to the Knesset members the wording of the declaration of allegiance, and they will stand up one after the other in turn in alphabetical order and say: "I pledge." "Always. For the first time since the outbreak of the corona virus, the Knesset will be opened to guests.

Each of the MKs was allowed to invite a guest to the ceremony. As part of the corona restrictions, all guests will be required to present a "green card", a vaccinator's certificate or a recovery certificate as a condition for entering the Mishkan.

At the time of the swearing-in of the MKs, most of the excited guests will sit in the public podium, which will open for the first time since the outbreak of the corona (some of the MKs have been sitting there for the past year).

Due to the instructions the guests will sit in a space of one chair between each of them.

Also, in light of the strict green light guidelines and the need for social distance, some of the guests will be directed to the plenary stand, near the permanent seat of the President of the State.



The Knesset plenum will also act in accordance with the rules of the green mark, and will also ensure a distance of one seat between the elected members of the public.

Proper ceremony

At 15:00, the reception ceremony of the President of the State will begin in the Knesset plaza, in the presence of the MKs and their guests.

Arriving at the plaza, the president will be accompanied by a convoy of motorcycles and cavalry.

The Speaker of the Knesset, the Speaker of the Knesset, the Secretary of the Knesset, the Knesset Officer and the Head of the Knesset's Ceremonies and Events Division will greet the President, in the background the IDF Orchestra will sound trumpets and play the national anthem. The Guard of Honor.
