Ile-de-France: should we fear the “vaccine vacuum effect” of vaccinodromes?

2021-04-05T18:07:58.285Z

Elected officials of Seine-Saint-Denis are moved that the opening of vaccination at the Stade de France reduces the doses of vaccines available in

Won't the giant vaccinodrome at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis pump all the available vaccine doses?

It was the fear of several elected officials, before its opening on Tuesday.

The regional health agency (ARS) was nevertheless reassuring during a site visit last Wednesday, ensuring that "900,000 doses are intended for Ile-de-France, in April, then in May".

What, adds the ARS, "to increase in power also in the small centers to pass there to 1000 vaccinations per week".

Opening of the giant vaccinodrome at the Stade de France this Tuesday: six questions that we ask ourselves

In Seine-Saint-Denis, where there are 24 centers, these forecasts are not convincing.

Several elected officials, including deputies (LFI) Bastien Lachaud and Alexis Corbière, have just launched a petition "to immediately open vaccination centers throughout Seine-Saint-Denis".

She had collected more than 200 signatures on Monday.

From their point of view, “the announced opening of a giant vaccinodrome at the Stade de France risks being counterproductive.

Open to the entire Ile-de-France population with a target of 2000 vaccinations per day, it will have a “vaccine vacuum” effect to the detriment of the fragile, elderly and isolated populations of the department ”, fear elected officials, who point out that several cities do not have not a local center.

At the Stade de France, in order not to lose doses, we will vaccinate sixty-year-olds from Seine-Saint-Denis this week

In Epinay-sur-Seine, a center was to open on February 1.

It was not and, since, the mayor (SE) Hervé Chevreau no longer has a scheduled date.

"It is very good that there is this vaccinodrome because it is necessary to vaccinate massively but we must not forget the importance of proximity", comments the elected official.

In its town hall, the communal social action center juggles the slots reserved here and there: a half-day reserved at the Pierrefitte center, 600 reservations at the Saint-Denis vaccinodrome (but for the nine communes of Plaine Commune)… " We still have a large waiting list, ”notes Hervé Chevreau.

In the Hauts-de-Seine, the opening of the vaccinodrome postponed

On the other hand, in Hauts-de-Seine, the desire to favor local vaccination is for the time being postponing the opening of the Paris La Défense Arena vaccine park in Nanterre, now scheduled for the end of April.

State services are continuing to organize the site, which will be intended for the vaccination of a wider public, while five new vaccination sites will open in the department, in Colombes, Chaville, Puteaux, Meudon and Montrouge, April 19.

This will bring the total number of centers to 23, nearly two-thirds of the municipalities then being equipped.

Faced with the concern of local elected officials, at the end of March, the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture specified that the future XXL center would be "complementary to those installed in the cities".

“It is obvious that proximity vaccination is suitable for the elderly.

But if tomorrow it is necessary to vaccinate all teachers and police officers, for example, it will be necessary to be able to ”, noted the prefecture.

In Seine-et-Marne, priority is also given to municipal centers

In Seine-et-Marne, the departmental vaccine park planned at Disneyland Paris, in the convention center of the Disney's Newport Bay Club hotel, will not open this week, nor the next one for that matter.

"As long as the twelve municipal vaccination centers and their local annexes are not saturated, there is no need to open this departmental center capable of performing at least 1,000 injections per day", we justify in the prefecture .

"All the centers have been building up gradually over the past two weeks, especially with the second injections carried out in parallel with the first, but they have not yet reached their maximum load."

According to our information, the seine-et-marnais vaccinodrome, which will be under the operational responsibility of the departmental fire and rescue service of Seine-et-Marne, will be led by professional and volunteer firefighters, who must all be trained. within two weeks to practice vaccination.

In addition, with regard to the telephone reception and administrative support of volunteers, the prefecture of Seine-et-Marne is recruiting ten people, who will be responsible, from April 21 and for six months, to welcome and to orient the public in the vaccinodrome.
