The most recurring concept in the Presidential Palace today was "Fifth Election": At every meeting of President Rivlin with representatives of each of the 13 factions that attended the traditional recommenders' parade, he made sure to openly reflect the political situation: there is no candidate for a Knesset majority. Or a real chance of forming a government, and the most likely option seems to be running for a fifth election.

From hour to hour, and from meeting to meeting, the president's political analyzes have darkened, and even at the end of the round of recommendations there is no white sail on the horizon.

On the contrary, the map of recommenders before the president is more complex and complicated than ever - probably in relation to the previous three election campaigns: instead of two candidates vying for the seat, this time there are three: Netanyahu with 52, Yair Lapid with 45, and Naftali Bennett with the seven right-wing recommenders.

The fourth election also breaks a record of non-recommenders compared to their predecessors: 16 MKs from the joint list, RAAM and New Hope informed the president that they have no preferred candidate to form the government.

The president pressed the faction representatives and tried to wallow in the depths of the boycotts and disqualifications with whom they would agree and disagree - but at the end of the day the recommendations remained the same: neither of the three candidates had a clear way to form a complete and functioning coalition.

The political analyzes darkened.

The president has two more days to consider who he wants to give the mandate to but he does not intend to pull the time.

If no last-minute nocturnal drama takes place, he will invite the winning candidate tomorrow.

In the current situation, where Netanyahu has a clear numerical advantage in the recommendations, the mandate will probably be his for the next 28 days.

Rivlin has not imposed the mandate on Netanyahu yet since he became a criminal defendant, and he often asked faction representatives yesterday about value considerations that should come to his door.

But when it comes to the numbers, it is not clear how much he will want to be revolutionary in judgment and absorb the subsequent attacks.

Ironically, the day of recommendations that took place in a dramatic split of screens with the opening of the evidentiary phase in the prime minister's trial, may be the day that Netanyahu will win the mandate to form his sixth government.

In the political system, at all its extremes, Netanyahu's chances of recruiting defectors or splitting partners from the opposing camp are considered almost an impossible task.

But at the very least, the mandate will allow him to continue to control the reins in the Knesset and take over the chairmanship of the organizing committee, from where he can block all the bloc's bloc dreams - from replacing the Knesset speaker to legislation that would prevent him from continuing to serve an indictment. There is a way to realize the parliamentary majority he won in the election, he will be able to slowly obscure the burning of the election results and not admit his loss: already in the first round after the election he defeated his opponents, who again, or still, failed to unite on one front against him.

Between rotation now and one that may never happen

In new hope, they are still trying to give a final boost to the axis of contacts created in recent days between Lapid and Bennett, in an attempt to formulate agreements on a joint rotation government.

Zeev Elkin almost begged the president to summon the two to his office, as he did exactly a year ago with Netanyahu and Gantz, to initiate the negotiations.

The president, who was apparently burned from the previous time who in retrospect did not produce a particularly successful government, refused to intervene.

Saar, like him, decided to stay on the fence and did not give his recommendations to Lapid - despite the high price: if new hope had been recommended for Lapid, Ahmad Tibi's would probably have joined the recommendation - and he would have reached 53 recommendations, and a clear advantage over Netanyahu: Saar's decision allowed him to keep his election promise not to support Lapid, but at the same time paved the way for the mandate to be imposed on Netanyahu. When

Lapid realized that he did not have Saar and the mandate slipped out of his hands, he summoned a statement to the media. Since the meeting between the two on Saturday night, their associates have been holding talks and consultations - but they have not yet reached any agreement. And from the moment they made their debut in the rotation, the right's appetite only increased: it began with a demand for a private government, modeled on the Netanyahu-Gantz government. With equal power and a crippling veto for the right-wing bloc on the left, it made up for the gap in the number of seats, then it became a prime-plus government, with the plus being in favor of the right, with a majority of one right-wing minister in government, cabinet, and all decision-making mechanisms. That right-wing ministers hold all the portfolios they define as "ideological" - law, education, religions,

And treasury, and left-wing ministers will receive only less significant portfolios.

There are still no consents, and the appetite is only growing.

The right wants to cushion the possible entry into government with the center-left with clear dominance from the right, but in terms of Lapid and the bloc behind it - these are excessive demands from someone who with seven seats just received an offer to get the prime minister, immediately. Especially when Bennett also flirts with Netanyahu, from whom he received an offer to accept the rotation, but two.

Between a rotation now and one that may never happen, Bennett tries to prolong the courtship period as much as possible, and he uses negotiations with Lapid to raise Netanyahu's proposals and returns, God forbid. He will do so for the next 28 days, during which the mandate will be with Netanyahu. He hopes that by the end of the month he will fail - and he will be the leading candidate to replace him. The porridge that Bennett is trying to cook between the suitors does not feed anyone but himself: he will not give Netanyahu the opportunity to exhaust the mandate he received, nor the center-left bloc the opportunity to replace him, until the cards are arranged exactly as he wants.
