A man was indicted and remanded in custody Monday after admitting to having killed his companion, discovered dead at her home in Tourcoing, announced the Lille prosecutor's office.

The 36-year-old spouse of the victim "
admitted the facts allegedly committed on the evening of March 20,
" Lille prosecutor Carole Etienne told AFP.
According to France Bleu Nord, the body of this woman was discovered on March 27 at her home, with wounds that may have been caused by a stabbing weapon.
His relatives, worried not to hear from him, had given the alert.
In 2020, 90 women were killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in France, a figure at the lowest however since statistics were put in place 15 years ago. In 2019, 146 feminicides had been counted by the government.
