The American pharmaceutical company Pfizer announced today (Monday) to the Reuters news agency that it is working on a second deal for the sale of vaccines for the corona virus to Israel, after the previous deal ended.

The company informed the news agency that it had completed the shipments of vaccines to Israel as part of the previous purchase deal, which was signed between Israel and the company in November of last year.

"The company is currently working with the Israeli government on an update to the previous agreement that will allow additional vaccines to be sent to the country. While the talks continue, it is possible that the vaccine shipments will be adjusted."

5.27 million Israelis have been vaccinated with more than 10 million doses of Pfizer vaccine, the highest immunization rate in the world.

Last week, the purchase of another 36 million vaccine doses intended for vaccinating boys and children was prevented, following a political clash between Defense Minister Bnei Gantz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Jerusalem Post reported that 700,000 vaccine packages that made their way to Israel were diverted from their route after the government did not transfer the payment for the previous delivery of 2.5 million vaccine packages, due to the coalition crisis.
