Russia has announced that it will not rule out taking military measures to respond to Western missile threats, stressing that its army's movements within its territory aim to preserve its security and do not pose a threat to anyone.

Sputnik quoted Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying today: “The Russian army moves within the Russian Federation on the borders with Ukraine according to what it deems appropriate and in the places it deems necessary,” stressing that these measures do not pose a threat to any other country.

Commenting on reports claiming that Russian military units are moving in the Rostov region and concealing military vehicle numbers, Peskov said: “The Russian army is moving on Russian territory in the directions it deems necessary and in the way it deems necessary to ensure Russian security,” stressing that the matter should not be “the slightest concern For any party ”.

The Kremlin spokesman also warned NATO not to send troops to help Ukraine, saying that “Russia will take“ additional measures ”if NATO takes such a step, accusing the Ukrainian military forces of provocations on the front in eastern Ukraine where a fragile ceasefire is violated daily. .

Reuters quoted a NATO official as claiming that Russia is undermining efforts to ease tensions in eastern Ukraine.

In turn, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, confirmed today that Moscow may enhance its means of responding to the threats arising from NATO's plans to establish an arsenal of medium and short-range ground missiles.

"We will continue to follow practical steps related to the establishment of an arsenal of medium and short-range ground missiles by the Americans and their allies in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, including taking into account Britain's announced intentions," Zakharova said in a statement today.

In the statement, Zakharova pointed out that this matter "does not mean at all that Moscow closes the door to dialogue and controls its closure, but it does not rule out that it finds itself obliged in the current circumstances to focus its efforts on implementing measures for the military-technical response to emerging missile threats."
