Former Walla! Ilan Yeshua CEO testifies today (Monday) in the 4000 District Court in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was present in the opening speech of prosecutor Liat Ben-Ari, but did not remain, according to Yeshua, the first witness in the Alps cases. First by Adv. Yehudit Tirosh-Gross, Head of the Securities Department at the State Attorney's Office for Taxation and Economics.

The court authorized Netanyahu to leave in light of the prime minister's defense attorneys' claim that Yeshua had never been in direct contact with Netanyahu in any case, so it is not necessary for the prime minister to be in the courtroom during his testimony.

The prosecution did not object to Netanyahu's absence from the testimony, but believed that his presence was required during the opening remarks, which relate to all the cases.

Since an indictment was filed last January, the proceedings conducted in the cases have mainly been requests by defense attorneys for the transfer of investigative materials, and requests to dismiss the indictment due to various flaws allegedly alleged in the work of the police and prosecutors.

The evidentiary phase, which begins today, is the main part of the trial in which the prosecution tries to prove the guilt of the defendants, and to that end presents evidence and proof to the court.

According to estimates, the evidentiary phase in the Alpine cases may take about two years, even though the judges ruled that the hearings will take place with a particularly high frequency - three times a week.

The list of prosecution witnesses has about 330 witnesses, but it is estimated that for a large part of them the prosecution and the defense will agree to submit their testimony to the police, without putting them on the witness stand.

This is an accepted procedure that happens in almost every case, and certainly in cases of this magnitude.

The evidentiary phase will be opened in the 4000 case - the Bezeq-Walla affair - in which Netanyahu is accused of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, and the Elowitz couple are accused of bribery.

In addition to salvation, the first group of witnesses will also include other former Walla!

State witness Shlomo Pilber, who was close to Netanyahu and the director general of the Ministry of Communications at the relevant time.

The second group of witnesses was also supposed to include witnesses related to the 4000 case, but recently the prosecution decided to transfer businessman Arnon Milchen and his personal assistant, Hadas. The two are key witnesses in the 1000 case, in which the prime minister is accused of fraud and breach of trust due to receiving huge sums of money from Milchen and billionaire James Packer. The benefit affair was supposed to sign the evidence stage, but after the prosecution found out Milchen was in touch With his former defense attorney, Adv. Boaz Ben-Zur, who today represents Netanyahu, it was decided to precede the testimonies of Milchen and Klein.

After the witnesses related to the 4000 case are completed, the prosecution will move to the 2000 case, which deals with recorded conversations between Netanyahu and Yedioth Ahronoth publisher Noni Mozes. Netanyahu is accused of fraud and breach of trust in this case, while Mozes is accused of bribing Netanyahu.
