The Netanyahu trial
The prosecutor in the Netanyahu trial tried to explain what really matters.
Her words were swallowed up by noise from outside
Ben-Ari's speech made it clear that sympathy is not important in court but the facts and the law, while outside there were those who insisted that an entire camp be on trial.
Netanyahu, for his part, once again accused the prosecution in an unfounded manner of attempting a coup.
This is further proof of what was also true at the beginning of his trial: a prime minister should not serve while on trial

This morning (Monday) in the Jerusalem District Court, the chief prosecutor in the Alps cases, Liat Ben-Ari, tried to mention that despite everything - in a court hearing, what matters is not rhetorical arguments, or even popularity - but the law and the evidence.
She laid out in her speech the way the prosecution sees the case, and how it intends to prove it - under the terms of the bribery and fraud offenses and breach of trust in the law.
After a long time in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his ministers, associates, lawyers and supporters repeated terms such as "two and a half articles in Walla!", Or "precedent-setting accusation of fan coverage," the prosecutor mentioned that Netanyahu was not prosecuted for the fan coverage itself.
The same coverage, according to the prosecution, was worth a lot to Netanyahu, and he was also willing to give a lot in return.
This connection, almost forgettable, is at the heart of the 4000 case and the 2000
case
. The
trial was held on the third floor of the court, but journalists were not allowed there for corona and security reasons, and watched what was happening via a closed-circuit broadcast to the first-floor halls.
Ben-Ari's speech was almost unheard of, as her voice was swallowed up by the voices of protesters for and against Netanyahu, who penetrated through the windows.

As the prosecution team entered the courtroom, carrying boxes of materials, from outside the loudspeakers of the protesters for Netanyahu thundered the "revolution of joy" of Omar Adam and Lior Narkis.
It will be a few more hours before the prime minister in his voice accuses the prosecution of a baseless attack in another coup attempt.
At one point, the music was replaced by the voice of Galit Distel Atbrian, who was ranked 10th on the Likud list after being good at defending Netanyahu in any situation in the media.
In her new role, too, she provided the same goods.
Thus, while inside the courtroom, prosecutor Ben-Ari clarified that "the indictment lists clear facts, and attributes to the defendants listed in it, and only to them, the commission of criminal offenses," Distell-Atbrian thundered in the amplification system outside: "Whoever is on trial today is not the prime minister. . This is my father".

After the opening remarks, Netanyahu left the place, and shortly afterwards the demonstrators also left.
The sound system has also improved, and the testimony of former Walla! CEO Ilan Yeshua could already be heard properly in the press halls. Yeshua described how, according to him, the owners of the Walla! - Shaul and Iris Elowitz - forced him to turn the news site into a tool in his service Of the prime minister and his family.
"I was told in clear words, 'This week he has to sign for me,' or 'This week he has to approve for me,'" Yeshua described how the Elowitz couple explained the pressure on him to skew the site coverage as the couple wanted. That Netanyahu's dealings with Walla! Were not unusual, he will have to deal with the statements of Yeshua, who testified: "Every news media outlet constantly receives inquiries from the subjects of the coverage.
There were some, but not in that way.
What I received from all the other politicians together in my 13 years in office is perhaps a week of requests I received from the Prime Minister and his wife.
Without comparison. "

Yeshua's testimony will continue tomorrow, but in the meantime, the prime minister appeared in front of the cameras and fired at the prosecutor's office again.
Just as he did ten months ago, after the first hearing in court.
The main thing that has changed since then is that Netanyahu has so far failed in the two tracks in which he hoped to overturn his trial: in the political arena he dragged the country to another election in hopes of forming an immunity coalition, and the court rejected a series of petitions.
If Netanyahu feels free to repeat almost the same speech, I will allow myself to repeat things I wrote then, and are relevant even today:
"Benjamin Netanyahu, almost should be mentioned, is not the State of Israel. The state is the institutions, symbols, laws and norms that must be accepted by citizens. It is precisely this vital trust that defendant Netanyahu is trying to smash, in order to supposedly weaken the case against him. What should a citizen who is indicted by the prosecution's seamstress' think tomorrow?
True, the defendants have the right to attack. They are facing a stronger system in their hands. "Draconian powers. But a prime minister can not undermine the legitimacy of the systems that are the pillars of the regime. That is exactly why a prime minister should not serve while he is accused."
