A shooting Tuesday morning at Riverside Technical Park in Frederick, Maryland, left
two Navy soldiers wounded
and the attacker killed.
The authorities reported that the suspect in carrying out the attack, identified as
Fantahun Girma Woldesenbe
, 38, is a member of the Navy Hospital Corps
,
who after shooting the two people, drove about 10 minutes to the military base of Fort Detrick, where he was shot.
Fort Derrick commander Michael Talley said Woldesenbe's motives for the crime are unknown so far and they still
cannot say that the attack "was targeted
.
"
Talley indicated that Woldesenbe
used a rifle to commit the attack
.
He added that one of the victims is in critical condition, while the second person is due to be discharged on Wednesday.
The relatives of the injured are with their relatives in the Baltimore Shock Trauma, hospital to which they were transferred.
Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando explained that there is a Navy institution in the park where the shooting occurred.

Lando said that police officers found the
two soldiers with gunshot wounds
at the scene
.
Earlier, Frederick police reported on Twitter that officers were on the scene responding to a call for an 8:20 a.m. shooting in the 8400 block of Progress Drive.
"At the moment there are two victims and a suspect has been killed," authorities said.
The Navy spokesman added that they will continue to provide information as the
investigations progress
.
Frederick is located about 52 miles (about 80 kilometers) northwest of Washington, DC.
