An earthquake measuring 2.7 degrees on the Richter scale struck the outskirts of the town of Shadhamehr in the Khorasan province in northeastern Iran, without any reports of casualties or material damage.
Fars News Agency quoted the Iranian Seismological Center as saying that the earthquake is 10 kilometers deep in the ground, and its epicenter is about 8 kilometers from the town of Shadhamehr, 14 kilometers from the city of Turbat Haydariyah, and 24 kilometers from the town of Bayek in the Khurasan Razavi province.
Earlier in the day, an earthquake measuring 5.3 degrees on the Richter scale struck Mariwan city in the Kurdistan province of western Iran.
