In recent weeks, contacts between Israel and Sudan have continued on the wording of the agreement to establish full diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Senior Israeli officials noted that the agreement has in fact been completed and that its signing is awaiting a date that will also suit the US administration.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to hold the signing ceremony of the agreement in Abu Dhabi before the last election, and asked Crown Prince Muhammad bin Zayed to promote it.

The Emirates wanted to hold the event with the participation of US Secretary of State Tony Blinken.

The date for the ceremony was supposed to be this week, but due to the tension created around the issue of Netanyahu's visit to the Emirates before the election and the feeling in the Emirates that Netanyahu is trying to use them for his election campaign - they suspended the plan until further notice.
