Starting this Tuesday, the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic began blended and voluntary classes in 48 municipalities with the lowest incidence rate of coronavirus in the country.
In the municipalities where the measure began, there were about 420,000 students voluntarily summoned, according to the Ministry of Education.
The students are of the initial level, of the first cycle of primary and of the last year of high school in the technical-professional modality, as well as students of the education subsystem of young people and adults, according to the entity.
In this new modality of blended classes, students will receive teaching on the school campus for between two and four hours.
Then, they will complete the curriculum with distance classes that will continue to be taught through radio, television and the Internet.
Education Minister Roberto Fulcar reported that schools that begin with blended classes and register outbreaks of covid-19 could be closed.
In addition, the students would return to receive distance teaching, he said.
To date, the country registers 254,603 cases of coronavirus and 3,355 deaths, according to the most recent bulletin from the authorities.
