Guatemalan President Alejandro Giamatti announced the purchase of a batch of the Russian (Sputnik V) vaccine against the Coronavirus.
And Giamatti said in a statement carried by the local newspaper La Hora that the authorities hope to obtain the first doses of the (Sputnik V) vaccine no later than 15 days.
For its part, the Ministry of Health and Social Assistance demonstrated the benefits of the Russian vaccine through its Twitter account, stressing that it guarantees longer immunity than other vaccines.
Guatemala had officially registered the (Sputnik V) vaccine last February.
It is noteworthy that so far (Sputnik V) has been registered by 59 countries inhabited by more than 1.5 billion people, and according to results published in the Lancet Medical Journal for the third phase, clinical trials of the vaccine confirmed that it is the most effective and safe in the world with an efficiency of 91.6 percent.
