As a gynecologist, he supported 10,000 children on their way into life.

Now Dr.

Heinz Nitschke (79) shorter and hands over his part of the gynecological group practice to his stepson.

Bad Tölz

- Enthusiasm for his work and a positive attitude: These are the trademarks of Dr.

Heinz Nitschke (79).

From now on, the Tölz gynecologist would like to take a step back and do his part in the group practice with Dr.

Stephan Krone - to his stepson Dr.

Alexander Rieger.

It is a remarkable career that Nitschke can look back on.

After studying in Mainz and Salzburg and subsequently working in obstetrics in Munich, Nitschke moved to Tölz in 1978.

“I had the chance to build something here,” he explains his motivation.

Because at the time there were other customs in the maternity clinics: It was not common for fathers to be present at the birth.

Nor was it a given that babies should stay with their mothers after delivery.

Rather, there were separate rooms for the babies who were only brought to the mothers for breastfeeding.

Nitschke campaigned for the men to be allowed to be present at the birth as well as for the babies to stay with their mothers as part of the so-called “rooming-in” from birth.

It was also important to him to establish the “gentle birth”, in which women set their own pace.

Every year the doctor gave birth to 300 babies in Tölz and 150 babies in the Benediktbeuern clinic, which still existed at the time.

In total there were 10,000 people on earth whom he accompanied on their way into life.

“I'm happy about that, and it makes me proud.” Sometimes he slept in the evening after the last appointment in his practice on Badstrasse, was on duty at the clinics during the night and was back in the practice the next morning.

But he does not speak of stress.

“I got along well.” He describes himself as a “passionate obstetrician”.

After a few years, the number of patients in the practice had grown so much that Nitschke looked for a partner - and found him in Dr.

Stephan Krone found.

He was just as happy that he was able to ensure year-round, comprehensive care for women, as he was able to support expectant mothers with the "enthusiastic help of our midwives and sisters".

He can only find words of praise for his practice team.

“Everything runs smoothly here.” The best thing for him is that he is on friendly terms with so many people from Tölz.

When taking a walk, it usually doesn't take long to speak to him.

He is now very happy to be able to hand over his life's work to his stepson Alexander Rieger.

The 36-year-old worked at the Ingolstadt Clinic after completing his studies.

There he took care of all areas of gynecology as a senior physician.

He describes traditional Chinese medicine as his "passion", which he came into contact with while studying abroad in China.

In addition to his practical work, he will complete his master's degree in this area.

During his days of attendance at the university, Dr.

Nitschke continue to help out.

It is particularly important to Rieger to continue his stepfather's life's work.

“That's why I would like to expand it further.” For him, this includes, for example, video consultation hours for young people but also cooperation with midwives, psychotherapists and physiotherapists.

"I am really happy.

This is a cool team, it all fits together.

I am very positive about the future. "
