Italy has tightened its entry rules due to the high number of infections with the corona virus.
From now on, EU citizens must also be in quarantine.

The background was numerous bookings from Italians who wanted to spend their holidays abroad.
Traveling in your own country is made considerably more difficult due to the ban on traveling between the different regions of Italy - much to the annoyance of local tourism.
In order to slow down the travel boom abroad, the obligation to test has been tightened and a quarantine has been introduced.
Both also affect travelers who want to enter Italy from abroad.
Entry to Italy: tightening of corona tests and quarantine
Anyone who wants to travel to Italy from countries of the European Union, including Germany, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, must generally submit a negative Corona test.
In addition, there are now
five days of quarantine
and another
negative test certificate after five days
.
These stricter regulations apply until April 30th.
Previously, travelers from the European Union were still allowed to enter Italy without quarantine - but only for valid reasons.
A completed entry declaration is also required.
Anyone entering from Austria may not have stayed there for more than 12 hours at a time in the previous 14 days.
According to the Foreign Office, commuters, schoolchildren and students who return to their place of residence in Italy at least once a week and do not show any symptoms of Covid 19 are exempt from the new quarantine obligation.

Exit restrictions apply here, and restaurants and shops must remain closed.
Over the Easter holidays, the entire country was in a lockdown from April 3rd to 5th.
