A day before the inauguration of the Knesset members, the new and healthy Knesset menu was unveiled, which includes health upgrades made by the catering system, with an emphasis on reduced breakfast and fat and salt.
Inbar Shmilovitz, senior coordinator in the catering and clinical dietitian, says: "We want to allow everyone who comes to the Knesset to eat a meal that suits them, with an emphasis on fresh and reduced food saturated fat and salt. This is not a passing trend. We have plenty of vegan and vegetarian dishes. Whoever chooses a healthy lifestyle. "
According to her, despite the corona restrictions, the catering system has upgraded the food served in terms of health, so that a new taste experience awaits the new Knesset members.
Anyone who chooses a vegan lifestyle is offered an avocado breakfast sandwich in a whole wheat bun, an upgraded vegetable salad with legumes and healthy sauces containing olive oil and fresh lemon.
The food served at the MKs buffet and the meat restaurant will also be upgraded by the head chef, Ran Moreda. In the dishes: chicken breast on the plancha, pea soup, vegetable soup, fish served with tomato sauce, cooked vegetables, rice and quinoa and tofu sautéed in vegetables.
MKs who want to enjoy it healthy, vegan and especially nutritious will be able to taste "corner" chickpeas that have arrived in the Knesset, and Knesset health experts recommend eating the chickpeas without pita to reduce the amount of energy in the dish.
