Senior Likud members today (Tuesday) attacked President Reuven Rivlin after he refused to attend the traditional photo ceremony after the inauguration of the Knesset with the participation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ophir Akunis, the Minister for Regional Development, said during a meeting of the Likud faction: "It is impossible not to strongly condemn the president's behavior. Our conversation yesterday looked like an investigation.
In addition to not appearing in the picture of the party leaders and not inviting Netanyahu to accept the mandate, the president treats this sensitive period with insensitivity, and Maayan takes a stand against Netanyahu.
And against the Likud, "Akonis received.
Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said: "I did not believe when I saw President Rivlin's absence from the traditional picture. It does not honor the faction leaders and even more so the president. We need to think about how these moves are strongly condemned."
During the meeting, the Minister of Transportation told the Prime Minister: "The president is behaving in a way that does not suit his status. And the decision not to invite you to the Outstanding Soldiers Ceremony is the highlight. You are the one who sends the soldiers into battle, and it is not his private matter. "In such a week of remembrance days, Rivlin shows a record of lack of statehood, and that means a lot."
The President's House chose not to comment on the matter.
