The Minneapolis police chief testified yesterday (Monday) at the George Floyd murder trial that Officer Derek Chubin had clearly violated the policy of force, pinning his knee to Floyd's neck for more than nine minutes while he was handcuffed behind his back and lying on his stomach.

On Friday for the dramatic trial, Police Chief Madria Ardondo said that "this is in no way, a way or a form" of the official police policy in the city, and that "it is certainly not part of our ethics or our values."

Ardondo, the first black police chief in Minneapolis, ousted Chubin and three other officers the day after Floyd's death last May, and a month later called it a "murder."

Unlike many other similar cases in the United States, senior police officers in Minneapolis did not stand behind Chubin and the rest of the defendants and condemned their actions.

While the jury listened intently to his remarks and made comments, Ardondo testified that Chubin, who had served 19 years in the Minneapolis police until the incident, not only had to get over Floyd earlier, but that the pressure he exerted on him was not as mild to moderate as police policy. This method of confinement.

In addition, the police chief said Chubin had failed in his duty to provide first aid to Floyd before the ambulance arrived, and that he had not acted to calm the situation while using minimal force, if any, as required by police policy.

He said that what happened was contrary to maintaining our "sanctity of life."

Ardondo testified after a doctor determined Floyd's death at the hospital, who at the time believed his heart had stopped working apparently due to a lack of oxygen.

The doctor, Dr. Bradford Langenfeld, testified as part of the prosecution's attempt to determine that it was Chubin's knee that caused Floyd's death while exerting a lot of pressure on his neck. The

doctor said Floyd's heart was already silent when he arrived at the hospital. Not updated on any resuscitation efforts by passersby or police officers at the scene, but paramedics told him they had been trying to revive him for about six months. The doctor said he tried it himself for a similar period of time. He said, based on the information he had, "more likely than any possibility. Another "Floyd's name was caused by a lack of oxygen.

Chubin, 45, is charged with Floyd's murder and manslaughter, following the arrest of the black man on suspicion of paying a counterfeit bill for a pack of cigarettes. The

defense claims that Chubin acted in accordance with his training, and that Floyd's use of the drug and his health problems resulted in his death.

Chubin's defense attorney asked the doctor if certain drugs could cause oxygen deficiency, and he confirmed that fentanyl or methamphetamine, which were found in Floyd's blood, could to do so. However, the coroner ruled that the death was caused by another person.

the prosecutor portfolio

, Steve Schleicher, noted that while some people become more dangerous under the influence of drugs or alcohol, others become "more vulnerable."

Ardondo agreed with the claim and noted that this should be taken into account when police decide to use force.

Before being pinned to the ground, Floyd was in a frenzy and struggled with the cops who tried to put him in the car.

He claimed to be claustrophobic.

According to testimonies and videos from the scene, police continued to hold him captive - with Chubin pinning his knee to his neck, another kneeling on his back and a third holding his legs - even after he stopped responding until the ambulance arrived.

The cops even turned down offers of help from a firefighter who was not on duty, who wanted to give Floyd first aid or explain to them how to do so.

Chubin's defense argued that the passers - by's shouts at Chubin may have influenced the officers' behavior, and tried to cast doubt on the fact that the officer's knee was indeed attached to Floyd's neck.

She showed a few-second video documenting a body camera of the cops, in which Chubin was seen pinning his knee to Floyd's shoulder.

Ardondo, the Minneapolis police chief, admitted that this was indeed what was seen in the segment, but he agreed with the prosecution's claims that the video showed only a few seconds before Floyd turned on a stretcher.
