New York-Sana

The World Health Organization has called on countries of the world to join a campaign to create a world with the greatest possible health justice after the Covid-19 crisis revealed how much equality societies are remotely characterized by.

The United Nations News Center quoted the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, as saying in a message on the occasion of World Health Day, which falls on the seventh of April, as saying that this day sheds light on the manifestations of inequality and justice that beset health systems.

He continued: "We have observed within countries that rates of disease and death due to Covid 19 disease are higher among populations and societies suffering from poverty, unfavorable living and working conditions, discrimination and social exclusion."

He pointed out that at the global level, it appeared that the vast majority of vaccine doses that are administered account for a few rich countries or vaccine-producing countries, considering that these manifestations of unfairness are unethical and pose a threat to our health, our economies and our societies.

The Secretary-General called for implementing policies and allocating resources so that everyone can enjoy the same health outcomes and thus achieve the goals of sustainable development by 2030 and provide universal health coverage so that everyone everywhere can live a prosperous life.

At the end of his message, he said, "Let us commit ourselves on this World Health Day to work together so that health and equity prevail this year."
