PV systems are an essential part of the climate offensive
The areas that can be used in the urban area of Freising for the use of renewable energies are limited.
The existing roof areas for the use of solar energy offer the greatest potential.
That is why it was an essential part of the resolution for the Freising Climate Offensive in 2020 that urban properties should be equipped with PV systems where it made sense as soon as they were new buildings or general renovations.
The focus should not be on maximum economic efficiency, but on a sensible occupation of the roofs with amortization of the investment costs within a maximum of 20 years.
Will be the largest system in the city of Freising to date
In 2018, the administration was commissioned to investigate the installation of PV systems on the Steinpark schools.
Result: The roofs of the elementary and middle schools are graveled and equipped with such a PV system, the roof of the gymnasium is implemented with extensive green roofs without a PV system.
1200 square meters of roof area are available, 750 PV modules can be installed, the nominal output of the 520,000 euro system is around 250 kWp.
The system is designed for self-consumption with excess feed-in.
The plant is the largest that has been built and operated in the city of Freising to date.
Because it has a size of more than 100 kWp, it has to be managed by the city itself, which leads to additional tasks in the city administration.
As became clear in the finance committee, the Stadtwerke will take over the marketing as a subsidiary of the city.
The new construction of the Steinpark schools is expected to be completed in autumn 2022.
The PV system is to be installed as part of the main measure and not only after the new building has been completed.
