Russia: supporters of the opponent Navalny arrested in front of his penitentiary

Alexeï Navalny has been imprisoned since early March in Pokrov, east of Moscow, where he is serving a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence.


Supporters of Alexei Navalny, including doctors, were arrested Tuesday, April 6 by the Russian police in front of his penal colony, where they had come to demand information on the state of the opponent, sick and on hunger strike.

According to an AFP journalist, Alexey Navalny's personal doctor and opposition activist, Anastassia Vassilieva, was among the few people arrested and put into police vans in front of Pokrov camp number 2, 100 km away. east of Moscow.

Other people arrested include doctors, supporters of the opponent and at least one journalist.

According to pro-Kremlin media, Alexeï Navalny was transferred on Monday March 5 to a medical unit in the face of his worsening state of health.

The 44-year-old main Kremlin opponent announced on March 31 that he was stopping eating to protest his conditions of detention, accusing the prison administration of denying him treatment and "

torturing

" him by deprivation of sleep.

Then on Monday, he announced on social networks that he was suffering from a strong cough and fever, in addition to back pain and leg problems of which he has been complaining since the end of March.

His supporters are all the more worried as the opponent barely survived a poisoning last August for which he blames the Kremlin.

Before her arrest, Anastassia Vassilieva also said she was "

worried

" and came "to

understand what is happening

" in the Pokrov camp.
