Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry strongly criticized Ethiopia's stance on rejecting all proposals related to the resumption of negotiations on the Renaissance Dam.
Shukry said in a televised statement carried by the Egyptian Middle East News Agency today: “It is important to clarify the extent to which Ethiopian intransigence has reached by rejecting all the flexible proposals presented by Egypt and supported by Sudan for the resumption of negotiations,” indicating that the matter reached a disavowal that negotiations could resume to achieve a legal agreement. He is obligated to fill and operate the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
Shoukry said that Ethiopia had rejected all proposals to resume negotiations in order to impose a fait accompli on the downstream countries, Egypt and Sudan.
Yesterday, my thanks reiterated his country's keenness to make the Renaissance Dam negotiations a success, and overcoming the controversial points that obstructed the previous rounds, describing the current negotiations as a "last chance."
