With Arab and foreign participation, the “Investment and Participation” conference, in its third session, organized by the Businesswomen’s Committee in the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, was held today at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus.

The conference’s activities included a workshop entitled “Research and creative solutions in the reconstruction phase” and the launch of the first digital platform to incubate entrepreneurs in Syria, in the presence of businessmen and investors from several countries, including “Russia, Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, the UAE, Egypt and the Donetsk Republic.”

The conference presented a group of investment projects that follow the Syrian Investment Authority, the Real Estate Development Authority, the Planning and International Cooperation Authority and the Ministry of Industry, in addition to a number of special projects for Syrian investors and inventors.

Participants in the conference discussed several axes related to the determinants of the economic climate in Syria and the incentives granted by the state to investors, explaining the legislative environment for investment laws and international commercial arbitration and its role in encouraging domestic and foreign investment, the concept of e-government and its implications for this field.

Assistant Minister of Industry, Dr. Jamal Al-Omar stressed in a speech the importance of the conference in forming a space for practical presentation of private and public investment opportunities and a field to activate the role of Syrian expatriates in reconstruction projects and to build strategic partnerships with investors from other countries, noting that investment opportunities in all sectors of the Syrian economy are very large at this stage. .

Al-Omar explained that the ministry will adopt the principle of partnership with the national private sector and companies from friendly countries to establish a network of small, medium and large enterprises that are distributed geographically and sectorally in line with the comparative advantages of each governorate.

The head of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi, considered that the presence of delegations from different countries at the conference gave it a great momentum, stressing that Syria possesses capabilities, environment and a good investment climate. Therefore, it is necessary to find companies specialized in attracting investments to the country and developing laws supporting that.

During the speeches of the delegations participating in the conference, the representative of the Republic of Crimea, Sergey Agiev, said that there can be no development without a solid economic base, expressing their willingness to cooperate and contribute to investment projects and facilitate possible procedures through the ports in the Crimean Peninsula, while the representative of the German delegation, Henning Zuz, confirmed that Syria An important place to work and invest.

In a similar speech, Turkish businessman Deniz Bostani said that their participation in the conference came to confirm that Syria, despite the unjust blockade it is subjected to, has become a safe and stable environment for investment, unlike what is promoted in the hostile media.

The head of the Businesswomen’s Committee in the Chamber, Marwa Al-Atouni, said in a statement to SANA that Syria is a very promising country for investment, and that the participation of Arab and foreign delegations is a positive sign, indicating that the aim of the conference is to attract foreign investors as the development of the economy takes place through large investments.

In a similar statement, Hussam Nafakh, director of the Al Majd Company organizing the conference, saw that the conference constitutes a real opportunity for local and international companies, investors, businessmen and owners of economic actors to network with each other, noting the importance of the attendance of the participating delegations to Syria and their belief in investment opportunities in it, especially during the next ten years.

Maher Hussam Al-Din, Director of a Technology Solutions Company, said in a statement to SANA that Syria has become an important stage to open foreign investment and provide guarantees to advance the investment reality again, pointing to the importance of their participation in the conference's activities because their company provides a comprehensive guide that helps the investor and puts in front of him a set of options that can be invested. Or it shares it with other companies.

Engineer Hassan Al-Hussein, director of a construction company in the countryside of Damascus, pointed to the importance of developing laws in line with the reconstruction phase, proposing building agricultural cities similar to industrial cities, as Syria is an agricultural country, in addition to the need for companies to invest in projects to recycle waste of demolished buildings.
